A special education advocate is a representative that informs parents of their educational rights and assists families in negotiating and resolving disputes with the school district. This helps to secure the most appropriate educational program for your child with special needs.
How much does an advocate cost?
I consider myself unique in that I charge on a sliding scale fee, based on your family income. I view advocacy as my gift and I want to make it available to as many parents as I can. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for more specific information about my rates.
Can an advocate help you?
Are you overwhelmed about the special education process and don't know where to turn? Do you feel you have reached a point of deadlock? Do you feel like your district is not listening to your concerns or taking you seriously? Are you concerned that your child is not receiving an appropriate level of services?
If so, it may be time to bring in a neutral third party. As an advocate, my job is to represent your interests at the table while maintaining a respected relationship with your school district. Bringing in an advocate DOES NOT mean confrontation! Many times simply bringing in a fresh face is quite helpful in regaining respect and showing that you mean business.
